Cape have been providing asbestos management services for more than 30 years. We have been in the forefront of all major developments in asbestos removal and management and have pioneered a number of the rigorous controls used today.

Asbestos Management

These have resulted in a significant positive influence on the procedures now in place approved by Health and Safety enforcement authorities throughout Europe which we have taken into the rest of the world Our high standards are underpinned in the UK by our HSE Asbestos Licence. We have held a licence continually since their inception in 1984.

All our asbestos-related work is carried out in strict accordance with our exacting internal controls.accredited to international standards.

Currently contracts include:
£78 million, 10-year contract with Scottish Power Generation Ltd, which includes asbestos management at the principal power generating stations at Longannet and Cockenzie on the River Forth in Scotland.

Our Asbestos Management services are available in all of our markets - UK, Gulf / Middle East, CIS, Mediterranean, North Africa and the Far East / Pacific Rim.

In carrying out asbestos removal operations today, Cape operates leading industry standards. These involve among other things:

  1. Putting up tented enclosures for all asbestos removal works
  2. Ensuring negative air pressure within the enclosures
  3. Air locks for entry and exit from asbestos removal enclosures
  4. Detailed air sampling before, during and after removal works
  5. Injection wetting of asbestos before removal
  6. Personal monitoring of operatives’ exposure at source (similar idea to a radiation dosimeter)
  7. Using powered respirators capable of filtering out dust to a standard significantly greater than required by law
  8. Individual face-fit testing of respirators
  9. Double bagging of asbestos waste
  10. Secure removal and disposal of asbestos wastes on controlled sites
  11. Disposable clothing – disposed of at (9) and (10)
  12. Specialist laundry and decontamination units for operatives
